Ken Pearson of Coquille
CumberJLand,
Ingram help
West to win
By Herb Swett
Correspondent, The Sun
Two area football standouts, Kenna Cumberland from Wil-
lamina and Brock Ingram from Sheridan, helped the West win
20-6 in the annual East-West Shrine Game in Baker City.
The West, which won for the second straight year, was be-
hind 6-0 at halftime. In the third quarter, the West's Bryan
Sablan (Knappa)
intercepted a pass
from the East's
Jesse Brown
(Baker) and ran the
ball to the East 4-
yard line. Brycen
Stutzman (Santiam
Christian) then
scored off left
tackle, and the
West led 7-6. Brock Ingrain Kenna
Cumberland
After an ex-
change of punts, Cumberland intercepted a pass from Roger
Hults (Illinois Valley) and returned the ball for a 13-6 lead. In
the fourth quarter, Jordan Reeher (Crook County) picked offa
pass from Brown and took the ball to the East 42. Ingram,
three plays later, passed over the middle to Brent Whipple
(Elkton) for a 35-yard touchdown play.
The East still leads the series 29-27-3.
Gerry Steele of the Baker City Herald contributed to this report.
