There were two 16-minute
games played last week when
the no. 1-ranked Horizon
Christian Hawks rolled into
Sheridan High School.

in the first one and Horizon

Horizon outscored their
hosts 38-15 in the second half,
after leading by just three at
halflime.
Spartan Tre Hale-
FAmerson led all scorers with
17, half of his team's points.
Brock Ingram was the only'
other to score more than two
for Sheridan. He had seven.
SHS coach Bob Bennett
pointed to the final play of the
second quarter as the turning
point. Sheridan had the ball
with a chance to go up, but
instead turned it over for a
quick lay-into go down'three.
Despite the remarkable
size difference, Sheridan's 5-
11 Joey Hertel played a huge
roll in limiting 6-5 Jordan
Tebbutt to just 12 points.
Mostly due to trying to
play catchup toward the end
of the game, the Spartans took
17 three-point shots. How-
ever, they only made two.
Hale-Edmerson was 1-for-6
and Ingram was 1-for-9.

It was a close game all the
way, but Willamina controlled
the tempo and held the lead the
entire fourth quarter to topple
Sheridan 39-34.
"i'm so proud of the girls,
you know that's a good basket-
ball team for us to match up
wi ," said WHS coach Tom
Anderson.
Brook Wilson, who led all
scorers with 15, hit a jumper to
start off the fourth and take a
four-point lead, the largest to
that point.
Later in the final period,
Whitney Anderson twice gave
her Lady Bulldogs a seven-
point spread, but the Lady Spar-
tans' Hatma Ellis hit free throws
to narrow the margin.
"I don't think we played our
best tonight, but hey, give it to
W'fllamina. They put a lot of
pressure on us tonight," said
SHS coach Gary'Mahe.
Sheridan's leading scorer,
Ellis, had 12. Anderson said his
defense worked hard at limit-
ing her points, and gave credit
to Devon Stackhouse for pres-
suring the Sheridan star.
"She lid a great job for us,"
Anderson said.
The win improved
Wdlamina's record to 7-4, with
a 2-0 West Valley League record.
