--Marine Private Roy D. Lou-
don, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. G.
Loudon of Rt. 1, Willamina,
has completed four weeks of in-
dlvldual combat training at the
Second Infantry Training Reg-
iment, Marine Corps Base,
Camp Pendleton, Calif.
While with the regiment all
new Marines are trained in tac-
tical and combat skills needed
for battle. Emphasis was plac-
ed on the small unit tactics--
the four-man fire team and the
13-man squad.

for the National Association
for Retarded Children,and Mrs.

she practiced with Eagles auxi-
liary officers for rittmlistic
competition for the region
meeting to be held in Salem,
Jan. 11 and 12. In the evening,
she attended the regular
meeting of the Oceanlake auxi-
liary, of which she is a member.
Brownie Scouts led by Mrs.
Floyd Owens prepared an in=
teresting display table for the
December meetIng of the Buell
Grange. Dried arrangements
on paper plates, Christmas
decorations fashioned from egg
cartons, black cats from plastic
bottles and other items covered
the table and the wall behind
it.
Mr. and Mrs. Dell Stouten-
berg and three children
of Yakima, Wash. and Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Ham and two
children of Albany will spend
the Christmas holidays withthe
women's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence E11is and Julia.
Spending Sunday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Herher
and family were his brother,
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Herber and
family of Vancouver, Wash.
Mrs. Eva Frick spent the
weekend in McMinnville visit-
ing the Harold Burch family,
and while there she visited
5-year-old Penny Smith and 10-
month old Kelly Smith in Gen-
eral hospital. They were in-
Jured in an auto accldentaweek
ago. Mrs. Frick used to baby-
sit the little girls when they
resided in Sheridan.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cunning-
ham and children have moved
back to Independence where
he is employed in a mill
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Voor-
hees, Jr. and children, Tammy
and Bobby, of Richmond, Calif.
will spend the Christmas holi-
