10 The Sun, Wednesday, April 26, 1989 hanti Bergel WHS graduate earns all As Shanti Pierce Bergel, 19-year-did son of Parry Pierce Messaris of Doane Creek Rd., Sheridan, and valedictorian of Willamina High School class of 1987 has made a 4.0 G.P.A. this term at the University of Oregon where he is majoring in international studies. He is planning on spending his junior year in Japan and has been studying the Japanese language and culture for the past five years. His mother, Parry, is a registered nurse in the obstetrics department of North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City. His sister, Korinna is a third grader in Becky Fendall's class at Willamina Elementary School. Dr. Blair gets reading honor Dr. Gene Blair, director of reading and curriculum for River Bend Community United District No. 2 of Fulton, Ill., is one of two professional educators in Illinois to receive the Illinois Reading Councils Certificate of Recognition for 1989. Dr. Blair received the reward at the award banquet held during the 21st Annual Conference of the Illinois Reading Council on March 17 SHS lists at Springfield. Dr. Blair has served on many honor roll committees on reading for the past several years. He was on the national Sheridan High School has board for one year and chairperson announced their third nine week for the Great Lakes Conference in Honor Roll. The following are 1983.
