Wednesday, April 3, 1991, The Sun 5 Lawnmower races spell fun The second annual Willarnina Lawnmower Races will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13. The races will be followed by the Kiwanis Club's annual Funfest din- nor and auction at 5:30 p.m. in the Willamina Middle School cafeteria. The lawnmower races, sponsored by the Willamina Business Group, will start at the comer of Main and E Streets. There will be seven categories: riding mowers, ages 16 and up; self-propelled mowers, ages 16 and up; push mowers, ages 7 and up; toy mowers, ages 1 through 6; and innovative mowe= (non-motorized), all ages. In addition, two new cate- gories have been added this year:. push brooms and wheelbarrows. The blades on all mowers must he disengaged for safety, and a $1 entry fee will be charged. Signups will begin at 1:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in each category for first place and best costume. Admission to the dinner, which will be served by club members from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., is $4 for adults and $2 for youngsters 6 through 12. Children under 6 are free. Tickets are available from club members.
